I just bought my HP Spectre 15 inch touch performance laptop. I like to play video games. I tried to play a game called Path of Exile. In the settings, it showed the game was trying to run itself using my integrated Graphics Processor, Intel HD 630, instead of my laptop's dedicated Graphics Processor which is much better, my Radeon Vega M X GL. I have googled, researched, and looked through every nook and cranny I can find, and I still cannot play games on my brand new very expensive laptop. Please help.
Note: I have already updated ALL drivers for the laptop using HP.com driver support page. No change in trying to play video games.

HP Notebooks use switchable graphics cards
Notebook computers with a switchable graphics feature have two graphics processing units (GPUs) - a power-saving, integrated GPU and a high-performance, discrete GPU. Computers with an Intel power-saving GPU and an ATI high-performance GPU combine the low power advantages of an integrated GPU with the maximum performance of a discrete GPU.
Computers with Dynamic Mode switchable graphics switch between the integrated, or power-saving, GPU and the discrete, or high-performance, GPU based on application needs. Specific applications can be configured using the Catalyst Control Center software.
Please refer to this Link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03048374
Also try these steps
-
Go to Start Menu > click on Settings.
-
Type performance > choose Adjust the appearance and performance of Windows.
-
In the new window, go to the Visual Effects and select Adjust for best performance.
-
click Apply and OK
If the issue persists, please follow this troubleshooter: http://hp.dezide.com/ts/start.jsp?guide=SlowComputerPerformance.net&as=true§ion=ccweb&sfs=sdoc
Keep me posted how it goes
Thank you and have a wonderful day 😊

Thank you for the prompt reply, KrazyToad.
I tried your suggested steps and links to no avail even though they honestly sounded and looked like they would fix my problem perfectly. My game was still trying to run itself with my intagrated grapics card. However, after reading the material you gave to me in that link about dynamic graphic card set-ups, in a desperate attempt to find a solution I did the following and found I had fixed the problem I was having:
I right clicked on my desktop, clicked "Radeon RX Vega M" settings, clicked on the System tab, and then Switchables Graphics tab, and found the option to select what GPU was used on my most recent programs that I ran. Since I had just tried to play my game, Path of Exile, it was in the list and I could select to always use my better graphics card and since then have had no issues with the game at all.
Thank you for your kind and quick reply to my question. Technology is only as good as its user and I certainly don't know enough about laptops to have fixed this without your help and context.
