I have a new Omen purchased in November but I am just getting to transferring all my stuff from my old Lenovo laptop. My issue is that the Omen will turn off randomly when I am lifting it up or moving it. I have seen a lot on line with people having issues with something similar with replacement batteries but this is the brand new stock battery and it happens when it is plugged in. Any suggestions on what to check. I cannot even get it to do it everytime but it is a pain when I go to put it down and I loose anything I was doing or working on when it shuts down.
Thanks,
Karen in MA

Hi @kfintoni
Welcome to HP Forums. Thank you for posting your query
I understand that the Notebook keeps shutting off whenever you move it.
This is a Hardware issue. I suggest you contact our Phone Support for Service Options.
Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/
Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect
Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"
Step 4. Scroll down and click: HP contact options - click on Get phone number and phone number appear.
Thank you.

It is not a hardware issue and I have already contacted HP support. Seems it may be an issue with static and HP knows about the issue as the new laptops are not grounded to take care of the issue of zapping people in the past. Unfortunate that this has happened as it has been many years since I have had an HP product and I was not certain about this purchase as it was pricey and I was replacing a very good Lenovo laptop.

I have an almost idenitcal issue with a HP OMEN model 15-ce015dx.
Happens when I lift it up or set it down. Usually when on power, but has happened on battery.
Goes completely off, no shutdown. Reboot takes normal time, no apparent delay.
Thanks for any help.

Sounds exactly like what hjappens to mine. I did find someone on line that had the same problem and it was caused by static. I have tried to replicate the problem to see if it is a specific way I am lifting or moving it and it just seems to be random. I did see that HP had issues with people getting zapped by laptops so what I was reading is that the newer ones are not grounded to eliviate the problem.

Hello Karen in MA,
I read the posts and contacted an HP Administrator about the issue as I had no knowledge of the issue.
The answer is Yes, they are aware of it and are asking users to contact HP Support directly for warranty repairs.
You must create a case and contact HP via the support link below.
Contact HP Worldwide | HP® Official Site
Choose the country you are in, then choose Support and follow the prompts.
If by chance you previously contacted Support with no resolution offered, contact them again.
If needed, demand your call be elevated to the manager. But there shouldn't be any problem, HP is willing to fix the issue.
Note that this grounding issue is in reference to the Omen 15-ce000 series and not a different product.
Hope that helps.
