OMEN HP 15-dc0003na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Good morning
I am writing about the noisy fans in my OMEN HP 15-dc0003na. The fans are quite loud when the laptop is plugged in but are almost inaudible when the laptop is running on battery power. Tested on the same applications. I updated the BIOS (F.15) and turned off the fan always on option. What else can I do to make the fans quieter while charging my laptop?

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Did this happen after a recent window or software update?
  • Did you make any changes on the settings of your PC prior to the issue?
  • When was the last time it worked fine?

I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

  • Shut down the computer, and then inspect and clean the exterior vents to remove dust buildup by blowing air through the vent openings. Dust can accumulate inside the vent openings and around internal cooling components, preventing the removal of heat.

For more information on the fan: HP Notebook PCs - Fan Is Noisy and Spins Constantly

  • Perform a hard reset. Performing a hard reset can reset recorded thermal values in memory and enable you to use the computer again, even if only for a short time to access and save any important files before service.

For more information on performing a hard reset, see Use Hard Reset to Resolve Hardware and Software Issues.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

No
When was the last time it worked well?
I do not remember. Maybe thall was always there

I have a few troubleshooting steps that we can try to fix:

Turn off the computer, then check and clean the external vents to remove dust build-up by blowing air through the vents. Dust can collect in the vents and around internal cooling elements, preventing heat dissipation.

The laptop was cleaned inside, but this solution does not make sense because it is quiet on the battery and too loud on the power supply.

I have an additional question. If I have Windows 10 Version 10.0.19042 Build 19042, which version of Windows should I download the drivers for?

I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. This sounds like hardware related issue with the computer and in order to fix this issue,  your computer needs to be serviced.  As we have limited support boundaries in the support community as of now.
