HP Pavilion Gaming 15-ec1000 Laptop PC (9EK36AV)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've had this laptop for around a year now, and it has served me rather well, with only a few minor issues that could be easily resolved without much issue, but as of the week, I've started to have issues with performance when plugging in the  150w charger supplied to me with the computer. I've tried limiting the processing power maximum in Control Panel to no positive result and have tested to see if the computer had been Thermal Throttling, that was not the case either. I have narrowed down the issue to either correlate with the battery or the charger and wished to know which part I may need to replace before I go ahead and dissect my computer

Hello @KooperTrooper05

Sorry to hear that you are having problems ... I would like to help you.

The performance reduction when using the charger indicates a technical problem. The problem is known and reported by users. There may be various causes ...

Solutions:

- Charger is replaced

- Motherboard is replaced

- or even both...

Thank you, I had conducted the tests and these were the results, it also came up with a disclaimer saying the AC adapter may need to be plugged in even though it already was. And when I conducted a test across the whole of the computer, only issues arose in the battery and power area, so I'm guessing this means a new charger is required to resolve this issue?

(1) Test the charger with a multimeter (DC mode). It could be that the charger basically works.

(2) Look closely at and into the charger socket of the notebook.

In many cases, solder connections break. Check the inside of the socket for damage.
