Does your laptop battery charge only when the laptop is turned off? Click here to view the solution

My HP Omen Laptop 16 fell upside down on the ground from 1 meter of height. It was very hot, then it cooled down. When trying to turn on the laptop, the Caps Lock light flickers and the power quickly turns off in about 2 or 3 seconds. Then it repeats and tries to turn on again infinitely, until I hold the power button to force it to turn off. I tried holding the power button, without the AC adapter and the problem persists, unless I did it wrong. It’s a brand new 2 week old laptop in previous perfect condition.

@BarcÀvela,Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Hard Reset

Try this first:

Unplug the charger.

Hold the power button for 15–20 seconds.

Plug in the charger.

Press the power button and see if it turns on.

Watch the Caps Lock Light

When you press power, does the Caps Lock blink?

Count how many times it blinks in a row (e.g., 1 blink → pause → 1 blink → pause).

That tells which part might be broken.

Tell me the number of blinks, and I can tell you what it means.

Try a BIOS Reset

Press and hold Windows + B on the keyboard.

While holding those, press the power button for 2–3 seconds.

Then release all buttons.

Wait to see if it starts recovery.

If You Can Open It

If you feel confident:

Open the back of the laptop.

Carefully remove and re-insert the RAM sticks.

Put it back together and try powering it on again.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hello! Having a similar issue. For mine, I will get one of three results even with the use of F2 or Win+b method.

1: Power button lights up for about 4 seconds and then turns off (this result is consistent when attempting Win+b recovery)

2: Bower button lights up for about 4 seconds, caps lock flashes once, and then all turns off (This result is relatively consistent with the F2 method)

3: Power button stays lit up and after about 10 or so seconds, the fans turn up to max. Screen never goes to anything but black.

I have the HP Omen 16-wd0013dx if that helps at all.
