This issue initially started showing itself when I was gaming, using 3D Softwares, and putting my laptop under heavy load, it would just stop charging. I had shown it to an HP Service Centre, where they upgraded my RAM (to 16gb), swapped my HDD out for an SSD, and the issue still persists.
Currently, it just stops charging a few seconds after I plug it in, and no matter how many times I disconnect and reconnect it to the power, it still persists.
I have tried other chargers, other outlets, and that does not solve the problem. The adapter I am using is an original HP 150W charger that came with this laptop, and it barely even gets warm, before the laptop stops charging. I can only charge it when it is fully powered off.
I am up to date on my windows updates, driver updates for both my Nvidia and AMD chips too.

You've already done a great job troubleshooting by trying different chargers, outlets, and updating your drivers. Let's go through a few more steps to isolate and potentially resolve the issue.
BIOS Update
Ensure your BIOS is up to date, as outdated firmware can cause power management issues.
- Go to the HP Software and Driver Downloads
- Enter your product: HP Pavilion Gaming - 15-ec1050ax
- Download and install the latest BIOS update available
Ensure your laptop is fully charged or connected to power before updating BIOS.
Battery and Adapter Test via HP Hardware Diagnostics
HP provides built-in diagnostics to test your battery and AC adapter.
- Turn off the laptop
- Press Esc repeatedly, then F2 to enter HP PC Hardware Diagnostics
- Select Component Tests > Power > Battery Test and AC Adapter Test
- Follow the on-screen instructions and note any failure IDs
Reset the Embedded Controller (EC)
This can help reset the battery and charging logic.
- Shut down the laptop
- Unplug the charger
- Press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds
- Plug the charger back in and power on
Check Windows Power Settings
Sometimes, aggressive power-saving settings can interfere with charging.
- Go to Control Panel > Power Options
- Select High Performance or HP Recommended
- Click Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings
- Expand Battery > Plugged in settings and ensure nothing is set to limit charging
Battery Driver Reinstallation
Corrupted battery drivers can cause erratic charging behavior.
- Press Win + X > Device Manager
- Expand Batteries
- Right-click and uninstall:
- Microsoft AC Adapter
- Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery
- Restart your laptop (Windows will reinstall them automatically)
If the issue persists, given that the issue occurs under load and persists across different chargers, it could be a hardware-level issue with the charging circuit or motherboard. Since you've already visited an HP Service Center, I recommend:
- Visiting again and requesting a deep hardware diagnostic
- Specifically mention the power delivery under load issue

I recently consulted with another person to diagnose this issue, and it turned out to be the adapter all along. The adapter for this current laptop is a 150W one, and when I used the other adapter, it turned out to be a 65W one. Owing to the reduced wattage of that adapter, the issue persisted when my laptop was under load, which led me to believe it was a hardware issue within the laptop. Upon buying a new 150W adapter and using it for a few days, my laptop is working just fine.
