OMEN Laptop - 15-en0037ax

Hi everyone,

I'm experiencing an issue with my HP laptop's Wi-Fi card (Intel AX200). Occasionally, it causes the entire system to crash. After a crash, the Wi-Fi stops working completely and the card doesn’t show up until I leave the laptop powered off for 30–40 minutes. Then, it comes back and works normally for a while before repeating the issue.

This behavior occurs on both Windows and Fedora (I dual-boot), so it doesn’t seem OS-specific. Interestingly, on Fedora, the Bluetooth functionality of the card continues to work, but Wi-Fi remains completely unavailable. This makes me think the Wi-Fi portion of the card might be overheating or failing.

I'm considering replacing the card with either an AX210 NGW or another AX200 NGW (in case mine is just defective). Before I proceed:

  • Is either card compatible with my HP laptop?

  • Has anyone experienced a similar issue and found a reliable solution?

  • Are there any BIOS or firmware settings I should check that might be causing this?

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Hi:

Have you updated the Intel card's Wi-Fi driver to the latest version on the Intel site?

Intel® Wireless Wi-Fi Drivers for Windows® 10 and Windows 11*

If so, and it still gives you issues, I recommend that you replace the existing card with the same model and part number, which is what is listed in the parts list for your notebook:

HP PartSurfer

Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 802.11ax 2 × 2 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 5.0     HP part # L35282-005

It is unlikely the Intel AX210 will work but if you want to try one, this is the part number and description for the non-vPro card:

Intel AX210 Wi-Fi 6E 2x2 AX + Bluetooth 5.2 M.2 2230 non-vPro   HP part # / SPS # M27269-005.

Here's a related discussion where an Intel AX210 did not work in a similarly equipped notebook with a Ryzen processor:

hi @Paul_Tikkanen , I am from India and getting this part from the official store will cost me more than 150 USD including Shipping and Taxes, which I don,t think is a good to spend on a 5 years old 1000 USD device. Locally I can from  get https://hubtronics.in/wireless-ax200 but I am not sure will it work or not.

Hi:

You need to get the Intel card with the L35282-005 part number on the Intel label.

The card you posted does not have that SPS #

This seller from China will ship the card to India:

I have order a new ax 200 for the replacement , but the same is happening with that too in Both OS, What could be the issue , Heating maybe?

Sorry that the replacement card didn't fix the problem.

I wouldn't think it's a heating issue if the problem remained as soon as you replaced the card.

Now if the card works fine when you first use the notebook and gradually gets worse after you run it for awhile, then it may be a heating problem.

Hi @Paul_Tikkanen
I have come to a new conclusion , This is possibly a bug with the bios (Tested with F26 and F22) as If i but my PC to sleep with the DP cable Plugged in , When I wake it from sleep, wifi card becomes missing from device manager. But if I now remove the DP cable and then put it to sleep. and then wake up with the cable still unplugged . Wifi comes back up. I am able to reproduce this scenario with 100% accuracy.

If i put my laptop to sleep with the DP cable disconnected , This scenario is fully avoided. Can we get someone from HP/Omen to look into it.

Hi:

Glad you found a workaround.

Since I don't work for or represent HP, unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to help you with that.

You may want to contact HP customer service and report the problem to them.

I have not read any posts where what is happening to you is a widespread or even not a widespread problem with that model series--especially with an Intel card.

Realtek cards have lots of connection issues and always have.
