Hello,
I am encountering issues with the Power Manager on my OMEN Gaming Laptop 16-xf0033dx. Specifically, after playing games (e.g. BG3, Robocop: Rogue City) on "high" video settings for 2 - 3 minutes the laptop screen will go blank and the power button light will no longer be lit up. I've tracked this within Event Viewer, and have encountered the following events:
- Event 700: Power Manager has requested suppression of all input (INPUT_SUPPRESS_REQUEST=1)
- Event 701: Power Manager has not requested suppression of all input (INPUT_SUPPRESS_REQUEST=0)
This issue started on 4/1/25, and have had this laptop since December 2023. These issues will only occur while my laptop is actively plugged into the AC Adapter. I've attempted the following measures to troubleshoot this issue:
- Disconnected laptop from AC Adapter, and test for issues.
- While the issues do not occur, I experience significant screen tearing and stuttering after 2 - 3 minutes in game.
- Ensure all drivers for BIOS, processor, and graphics card are updated.
- Ensure that the laptop is on the latest version of Windows 11.
- Clean the fans of the laptop.
- Disabled Modern Standby.
- Re-enabled Modern Standby after that failed to resolve the issue.
- Changed the refresh rate of laptop from 60hz to 165hz.
- Ran through system tests for power, AC Adapter, display, processor, and Thermal profile.
- System tests did not identify any issues.
- Changed Power Mode to Power Efficiency mode.
While these issues do not occur while playing a game in "medium" video settings, I find it concerning that I can no longer enjoy gaming with the "high" video settings I had previously been able to enjoy.
Thank You

Hello Zoey7886,
Thank you for your response. I appreciate your guidance, however those troubleshooting steps did not resolve the issues. After running through all of the aforementioned steps, the laptop went into a persistent black screen state and would no longer power on. Investigated this on the r/HPOmen subreddit, it appears that some models of the OMEN 16 have an issue wherein the Hall sensor has been compromised by the heatsink of the laptop. This compromised Hall sensor appears to have been directly causing the issues with Power Manager. To rectify this, I've disconnected the Hall sensor. Since doing so, the laptop has booted up as normal and (after some reinstalling) I've been able to game on the highest settings with no issues. The only disadvantage that I've encountered is that the laptop will not enter a sleep state when the lid is closed. I would encourage anyone who's encountering issues with Power Manager on the OMEN 16 to explore disconnecting the Hall sensor as a troubleshooting measure.

@Reid_K3, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Power Management Issues on OMEN Gaming Laptop!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
If you are facing power management issues with your OMEN Gaming Laptop 16-xf0033dx, especially during gaming, here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:
Check for Overheating:
- Ensure that the laptop is not overheating during gameplay. High-end games on "high" video settings can cause the system to heat up rapidly. Make sure the vents are not blocked and the fans are working correctly.
Update Drivers and BIOS:
- Make sure that all the drivers, especially the graphics and chipset drivers, are up-to-date. Also, check for any BIOS updates from HP's official support site.
Check Power Settings:
- Go to Control Panel > Power Options and see if there are any custom power settings that might be causing the laptop to shut down the display or the system. Consider setting the power plan to "High Performance."
Inspect Event Viewer Logs:
- Event 700 typically indicates a power management event. Review the logs closely to determine if there are other error messages or warnings that could give more context.
Reduce Game Settings:
- Try lowering the video settings for the game to see if the issue persists. This will help identify if the problem is related to system resources being maxed out.
Test Hardware Components:
- Use the built-in HP Hardware Diagnostics to test the laptop's hardware components for any issues.
Perform a System Restore:
- If the issue started occurring after a recent system change, consider performing a system restore to revert to a previous state known to be stable.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!

@Reid_K3, Thanks for getting back to us—and I really appreciate the detailed update on your troubleshooting process.
It's great to hear you've found a workaround, and I agree—what you’ve discovered about the Hall sensor interference is quite insightful. While HP doesn’t officially recommend disconnecting internal components like the Hall sensor, I understand that in this case it helped restore functionality, and it’s good to know your system is running stable again on high settings.
That said, please do keep in mind that bypassing internal sensors might affect other features, like sleep mode, as you've noticed.
Best regards,
ZOEY7886
