I have an omen 16 laptop been using for a couple of years. All of a sudden the other day, the laptop can turn on but with no display. I waited for anything to load on screen but nothing. Lights on keyboard and fan spinning. Ive done some searching and tried unplugging the power, disconnected the cords, restarted the laptop by holding power down for 15 sec, plugged power cords back and connected laptop without any success. What can I do to fix this?

Hi @cibulkam,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Check the Laptop Ventilation:
- Ensure the vents are not blocked. Proper ventilation prevents overheating which might cause display issues.
- Clean the vents using compressed air.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Turn off the laptop.
- Disconnect the AC adapter.
- Remove any external devices connected to the laptop (e.g., USB drives, external hard drives).
- Press and hold the power button for approximately 20 seconds.
- Reconnect the AC adapter and turn the laptop on. Ensure you use the adapter that came with the laptop.
Test for Hardware Failures:
- Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the laptop.
- Turn on the laptop and immediately press ESC repeatedly, about once every second.
- When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
- On the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu, click System Tests, then Fast Test. For the Extensive Test, click on Extensive Test.
Perform Windows Recovery if the Display Remains Off:
- Restart the computer and immediately press the F11 key repeatedly.
- On the 'Choose an option' screen, select Troubleshoot.
- On the 'Troubleshoot' screen, select Reset this PC and follow the instructions to reset your computer.
Check the LEDs and Beeps:
- If LEDs near the CAPS LOCK or NUM LOCK keys blink when starting up, refer to HP Desktop PCs - Computer beeps or a light blinks during startup or HP Notebook PCs - Computer beeps or a light blinks during startup for further instructions
I hope this helps.

I had opened and carefully cleaned the inside vents and fan. I inspected the internal battery without any flaws. After carefully putting the laptop together, I performed a reboot. Was unsuccessful in displaying anything on my monitor nor external tv connected via hdmi cable. I performed all the instructions provided without any success. Please advise

Hi @cibulkam,
Thank you for the response:
Since the display is still not working, let's explore a couple more things that might help:
Check for a Display Toggle: Sometimes, the laptop's display can get toggled off unintentionally. To rule this out:
Try pressing F4 (or Fn + F4) to toggle between the internal display and external monitors. This might bring back the internal display if it got switched to the external monitor.
Try an External Monitor Again: Since you've connected the laptop to an external TV via HDMI, make sure the HDMI cable and port are working by testing with another device (like another laptop or console).
If the external monitor shows a display, it might suggest that the laptop's built-in display is faulty.
Boot into Safe Mode: Since you're not seeing anything on the screen, we can try booting into Safe Mode to see if it's a driver issue.
Turn off the laptop.
Turn it back on and immediately press F8 (or Shift + F8) repeatedly to access the Advanced Boot Options menu.
From there, select Safe Mode and see if the display works in this mode.
Reseat the RAM: A loose or faulty RAM could cause issues with the display.
Power off the laptop and disconnect the power adapter.
Carefully remove and reseat the RAM modules.
Try powering the laptop again to see if the display turns on.
Check for BIOS/UEFI Issues: You might be able to access the BIOS settings even without the display turning on. To confirm, power on the laptop and repeatedly press ESC or F10 to enter the BIOS.
If you can hear a change in fan sounds or you hear beeps, it could indicate the laptop is not reaching BIOS.
I hope this helps.
