OMEN X by HP - 17-ap001ns
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Please help, I don't know what to do anymore. I bought laptop OMEN X by HP - 17-ap001ns over ebay auction, and it even got official hp warranty, but hp didn't want to take it on maintenance, so I sent it to seller and they "repair" it. Now I can't install omen command center, I can't contact win support over their app, and I can't remove the name test from my homescreen when I am launching windows and the worst part is that cpu is still overheating to 96 C. I really don't know what to do. I can sell the laptop but then I will get other person in same problem. Please just please help, the reason I want to install omen command center is because i want to put voltage of cpu down so it don't overheat. Thank you

See if this will install before we contact HP.

HP PC HARDWARE DIAGNOSTICS...  http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp99001-99500/sp99221.exe

if that will not, try this one... https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp97001-97500/sp97031.exe

Run the diagnostics for the full extensive tests for everything. Keep the laptop plugged in during that time.

IF it detects a hardware failure, you will at least have a better idea whats wrong.

@Smarcth

What version of Windows did the seller install? Home or Pro?

I would feel more comfortable if you simply reinstall Windows yourself, not from some eBay seller you don't know anything about. I would have no way of knowing what is messed up with what he installed or if its even a safe install.

Use an 8GB pen drive and make an installer with the Create media Windows 10 tool. Then reinstall Windows Home version with that.

If you need further instructions on how to use the installer, let me know.

Ok, ill try it.

OK great. When you get to the part of installing Windows to the Omen...

During the beginning of the installation, you will have an option to choose a Custom install. Choose that and delete all the partitions listed, then continue with the installation. Windows will format the drive automatically and do what it needs to do.

This is called a clean install.

So okay, I performed a clean install, deleted previous partition, and formated it. And tried again, but still the same, this time I configured my account settings but still when I tried to install Omen command center for my laptop same thing happened, did I missed some driver?

And when I try to install intel chipset and utility driver I get error status 0xc000012f.

Oh and when I try to install command center cmd opens up and there is error : The system was unable to find specifed registry key or value.

This is what I hate about buying used stuff from eBay. You just get someone else's problems.

To confirm, you have Windows 10 Home edition now, correct?

Not sure where you're getting the Intel drivers but don't worry about installing that stuff. Windows will install what it needs now automatically from Windows Updates.

Go to Windows Updates and manually force it to find updates now. Click on the Check for updates button even if its shows its up to date. Run updates a couple of times until no more are found.

Then see if these will install...

OMEN Command Center SDK Package  sp98588.exe

and

Get HP System Event Utility - Microsoft Store

Then install the command center from the MS store...

Get HP Command Center - Microsoft Store

If it installs this time, go to Windows Updates and force it to search for updates again.

IF none of the above will install, I'm not sure whats happening or if you might have a faulty drive or other hardware issue.

Let me know what happens.

Yeah, thing is I buy it refurbished from german seller preiswertepc.de which got really good rates, and it was still under official hp warranty, but when I get it to hp even if it was under warranty they didn't want to have anything with it even with bill. Sent it to them and they said that there was some paint on the motherboard and that they removed it. I don't know every time I sent it to them it cost me 50€ and back to Croatia. I don't have that money to constantly send it back there and here. And what is worst they even don't want to answer to my mail, I am really going crazy over that expensive gadget.

Anyway I tried to install sdk package and it still restarts, and then I installed system event utility from microsoft store but I got the same error sys info pop up I look at it and there are some messages for sys drivers of pci, pdc, partmg, etc. and error control which is critical. Command center installs but when I put it for work check mark just removed itself.

Oh OK, you live in Croatia. That laptop model was originally sold in the EMEA region. I would imagine that includes Croatia, but Im not sure how it works over there. If the HP repair center is in a different country, you might have to pay the shipping fees as you have already.

The eBay seller should be responsible for the faulty laptop. I'm guessing there is no chance of returning it for a refund? Can it be disputed with eBay?

Paint on the motherboard really sounds suspicious. There should be no reason for paint to be on the motherboard.

I can ask the moderators if an HP Rep can step in and offer any advice, but I cant guarantee anything. I'm just a volunteer.
