Hi @ale_431,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your Victus By HP 16.1 Inch Gaming Laptop PC isn't starting after unplugging components without disconnecting the battery, here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.

  • Check for Loose Connections: Make sure that all components you unplugged, such as RAM, storage drives, or any other peripherals, are properly reconnected. Loose connections can prevent the laptop from booting.
  • Reset RAM and Other Components: Try reseating the RAM sticks, graphics card (if applicable), and any other components you might have removed. Sometimes, components might not be seated properly, leading to booting issues.
  • Battery Reset: Since you mentioned not unplugging the battery, performing a battery reset might help. To do this, disconnect all external power sources, including the charger, and then press and hold the laptop's power button for around 15-20 seconds. This should drain any residual power from the system. Then reconnect the battery and try turning on the laptop.
  • External Display: If you have an external display, connect your laptop to it and see if anything is displayed. This can help you determine if the issue is related to the laptop's display.
  • Check LED Indicators or Sounds: Many laptops have LED indicators that can provide insight into the problem. For instance, blinking lights might indicate a hardware issue. Additionally, listen for any unusual sounds during the startup process that could indicate problems with hardware components.
  • Perform a Hard Reset: Disconnect all external devices, including the power cord and any peripherals. Then, press and hold the power button for around 15-20 seconds. Reconnect the power and try turning on the laptop.
  • Safe Mode Boot: If the laptop seems to be starting but not fully booting into the operating system, you can try booting into safe mode. This will load a minimal set of drivers and might help identify if a specific software or driver is causing the issue.
  • Hardware or Software Changes: If you recently made any hardware or software changes before the issue started, try reverting those changes to see if it resolves the problem.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
