I’m facing serious system issues while playing Valorant on my HP Pavilion Gaming 15-ec1xxx laptop. Even though it’s a gaming laptop, the game frequently freezes, the screen sometimes flickers or goes completely blank, and I’ve also experienced multiple blue screen crashes. While checking the Event Viewer, I’ve noticed errors related to TPM hardware, DNS timeouts, and COM server permission problems. These issues usually happen during gameplay and have made it difficult to play smoothly. I suspect outdated or corrupted BIOS and chipset drivers might be the cause, but I’m unable to find proper support for my exact model as HP’s website fails to detect it correctly.

  1. TPM Error

"The device driver for the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) encountered a non-recoverable error in the TPM hardware, which prevents TPM services (such as data encryption) from being used. For further help, please contact the computer manufacturer."

  1. DNS Timeout

"Name resolution for the name t-ring-fdv2.msedge.net timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded. Client PID 13560."

  1. COM Server Permission Error

"The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID {6B3B8D23-FA8D-40B9-8DBD-B950333E2C52} and APPID {4839DDB7-58C2-48F5-8283-E1D1807D0D7D} to the user NT AUTHORITY\LOCAL SERVICE SID (S-1-5-19) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Unavailable SID (Unavailable). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool."

Hi @Aakruti

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Experiencing performance and system stability issues while gaming on your HP Pavilion Gaming 15-ec1023AX can be frustrating.

Below are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issues you're encountering:

Step 1: Update Drivers and Windows

  1. Graphics Drivers: Ensure that your graphics drivers are up-to-date. Visit the GPU manufacturer’s website (such as NVIDIA or AMD) for the latest driver updates.
  2. Windows Update: Check for any available updates for Windows 11 by going to Settings > Windows Update. Install any pending updates for bug fixes and improvements.

Step 2: System Diagnostics

  1. HP Support Assistant: Use the HP Support Assistant tool to run a full system diagnostic. This can help identify hardware issues or outdated software.
  2. Check for Malware: Run a full security scan with your antivirus software to ensure no malware is impacting performance.

Step 3: BIOS and Firmware

  1. Update BIOS: Visit HP's support website to check for any BIOS updates for your laptop model, as these can improve compatibility and performance.
  2. Driver Firmware: Check for firmware updates related to your system components such as TPM.

Step 4: Manage Software and Overlays

  1. Background Applications: Reduce the number of background applications running during gameplay to free up system resources.
  2. Overlays: Disable any unnecessary overlays from gaming applications, such as Discord or NVIDIA GeForce Experience, as they can sometimes cause performance issues.

Step 5: Adjust Game Settings

  1. Graphics Settings: Lower the graphics settings within Valorant to reduce strain on your GPU and improve performance.
  2. Resolution and Frame Rate: Consider lowering the screen resolution or frame rate cap in-game settings.

Step 6: System Configuration

  1. Throttle Management: Ensure that the system power settings are optimized for performance. Go to Control Panel > Power Options and select "High Performance."
  2. Event Viewer Analysis: Use Event Viewer to find details of errors or warnings that correlate with your issues. This can help pinpoint specific hardware or software causing problems.

Step 7: Resolve Specific Errors

  1. TPM Errors: Check BIOS settings to ensure TPM is enabled and configured correctly.
  2. DNS Timeout: Adjust DNS settings in the network configuration if errors persist.
  3. COM Server Permissions: Ensure that applications have the required permissions via the Component Services console (accessible by typing comexp.msc in the Run dialog).

You're clearly doing everything you can to get this resolved, and I admire your persistence.  Let’s get your system back to the performance it was built for.
