Hello, my laptop hp omen 15-dc0044nf has been hibernating because of a thermal event with this in the windows event viewer:
The system was hibernated due to a critical thermal event.
Hibernate Time = 2022-07-04T09:50:33.679762800Z
ACPI Thermal Zone = \_TZ.TZ01
_HOT = 373K
My cpu temperatures were fine, between 45-60 °C, i have read that TZ01 is an another component on the motherboard but i have no clue where to find it
I changed my thermal paste 4 days ago on the cpu and gpu, but there was nowhere else to change the thermal paste.
I found someone who had the same issue, he fixed it by uninstalling his intel graphics drivers and installing the one from hp website, but i have no clue which one should i install, they are all for windows 10 v1709 or v1903, but my laptop is on windows 11 pro 21H2.
Which one should i download?
Things i tried:
- change thermal paste
- disable Turbo on my cpu (with ThrottleStop), helped decreasing cpu temperature, so the issue happen a little bit less often
- installed all updates from windows update, HP support assistant, intel drivers and nvidia drivers
- updated bios, nothing changed
- runned all these commands:
sfc /scannow
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
Some infos:
- i think this issue started when i had to remove my battery because it inflated
- i had the issue on windows 10, i then updated to windows 11 hoping to somehow fix this issue

Hello @SkyNalix
To avoid further problems and time-consuming attempts, please go back to windows 10 and test again.
Within 10 days after windows 11 upgrade:

Do i really need to go back to windows 10?
I didn't just updated my laptop from w10 do w11, I deleted all my softwares and files, it's like a completely new install. I don't have the folder "windows.old" anymore.
It's been almost a month since i updated to w11.
I can maybe try to install windows 10 so i will have a dual boot windows 11 and windows 10, should i do that?

Hello @SkyNalix
Solution A) HP cloud recovery tool !
Solution B) Microsoft media creation tool
Solution A) Use HP cloud recovery tool !
Follow the instructions below ...
I quote what user Paul_Tikkanen wrote, changed the text color so it is clearer for you: "
You can use the HP cloud recovery tool on another Windows PC running Windows 7 64 bit or newer to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall W10, the drivers and the software that originally came with the notebook.
Here is an info link for how to use the utility. You will also need a 32 GB USB flash drive to create the recovery media with.
HP Consumer PCs - Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool in Windows 11 and 10 | HP® Customer Support
You will need to supply the product number of the notebook to use the tool, so use this guide for how to find the product number of your notebook.
HP Notebook PCs - Finding your product name and number | HP® Customer Support
Solution B) Use Microsoft media creation tool
Follow the instructions below ...
If you cannot find the product number, you can also use the Microsoft media creation tool to create a bootable W10 installation flash drive and clean install W10. Make the 64-bit installation media.
Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com)
Boot from the installation media and when you get to the part of the installation that asks, 'Where do you want to install Windows,' delete every partition on the hard drive, leaving just one partition of unallocated space.
Click next and W10 will install.
Using the second method to install W10, will give you the most amount of net usable space after W10 has completed installing.
You will have to be diligent in making sure you do routine disk cleanups, and do not install a lot of programs.

Hello @SkyNalix
(1) ! Important ! Please create a windows restore point !
Restore point name: new installation of windows 10
https://www.howtogeek.com/797227/how-to-create-a-system-restore-point-on-windows-10-or-windows-11/
(2) It's safe to update with HP Support Assistant.

I mean, can i update cpu drivers from Intel Driver & Support Assistant? One of the posts for the same issue mentioned that the problem was from Intel HD Graphic drivers
Also, i'm not 100% sure the issue is fixed, i will mark your answer as a solution tomorrow.

Hello, i have been using my laptop for 3 hours now, and It went to hibernation just now with the same message
The system was hibernated due to a critical thermal event.
Hibernate Time = 2022-07-05T12:30:33.483840900Z
ACPI Thermal Zone = \_TZ.TZ01
_HOT = 373K
Should I rollback to the restore point I created before downloading all softwares?

This tells what's the problem !
Attention
If you do not change this condition, the notebook/mainboard/components will suffer partial or total damage.
Thermal paste dries out and loses its function if it is constantly overheated. Therefore it must be renewed !
I think that your notebook (cpu/gpu/bridges) has overheating problems !
In your case: Service is required !
- The computer should be disassembled and checked.
- Thermal paste for CPU GPU and bridges should be renewed
- The function of the fan(s) must be checked
- ( Short circuit test )
- Power charger test
- Battery Test/Replacement
- General cleaning ...
If you can't do that, you should have it serviced by a professional notebook (chip level) repair store.
After Service is finished -> 😃

Last chance before you have to call the doctor
(1) Update BIOS

Updating the BIOS is recommended as standard maintenance of the computer. It can also help resolve the following issues:
- An available BIOS update resolves a specific issue or improves computer performance.
- The current BIOS does not support a hardware component or a Windows upgrade.
- HP Support recommends installing a specific BIOS update.
"
(2) Reboot and test again ...
