IMG_0043.jpegHi, my laptop (bought in October 2023) has recently been idling at 60 degrees Celsius and then when doing the “Fast CPU Stress test” it goes up to 91 degrees (as seen in screenshot)

is this normal? It makes the laptop rather loud especially when playing low graphic games (Think Factorio or Fallout 3) when a few months ago it would play it without any noise whatsoever and would peak at 50 degrees max

is this just an age thing? I have the warranty until 2026 if it would be better to send back to HP and sort it out

for dust related issues (had issues in the past with razer) , it stays on my cooling mat, flat desk or train table at all times

Hi @TobyMiller1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I see that you are facing performance related issues with your Laptop.

A) Perform a power drain on your PC.

1) Unplug the power cord from the PC & wall.

2) Disconnect the power cable from the AC adapter if it is a detachable part and keep it aside.

3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the AC adapter, then connect it to the wall and to the charging port on your PC.

5) Power on the PC and Update the BIOS for your PC by clicking on the link.

Make sure you keep only the charger plugged in while updating the BIOS for your PC.

Click on the + sign next to BIOS and then download the file.

Open the file and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update.

B) Kindly refer to the steps on this link  to troubleshoot and let me know if that resolves the issue.

C) Check the 'OMEN Performance Control' setting by clicking on the link.

Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi, I’ve just done this now and it’s idling (with a few minor programs open) at 70-75 degrees now

There was no update to firmware and I was greeted with a “CMOS Reset” when I powered on my laptop (after following instructions)

I’m unsure where to go next as I’ve cleaned the fans and placed it upon a cooling mat
