OMEN Laptop - 15-en0013dx
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello, my Omen has some problem with the fan not automatically turning on when the laptop overheats (have to manually open the Omen gaming hub), I have updated all the drivers and bios (which is kind of old, and not received any update, which is kind  of weird)

Hi @RyuuyaS,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It's frustrating to hear that your HP Omen laptop is experiencing issues with the fan not automatically turning on when the laptop overheats, even after updating drivers and the BIOS. This could potentially be due to a few different factors. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.

Check Power Settings:

  • Ensure that your power plan settings are not preventing the fan from turning on. Sometimes, power-saving settings can limit the fan's performance. Go to "Control Panel" > "Power Options" and make sure you're using a balanced or high-performance power plan.

HP Omen Gaming Hub:

  • Since you mentioned manually opening the Omen Gaming Hub makes the fan work, it might be a software-related issue. Make sure the Omen Gaming Hub is up to date. Sometimes, updates to the software can resolve such issues.

BIOS Update:

  • While you mentioned that you've updated the BIOS, it's still worth rechecking the HP website periodically for new BIOS updates. They might release an update in the future that addresses this issue.

Temperature Monitoring:

  • Download a temperature monitoring tool like HWMonitor or Core Temp. Monitor your laptop's temperature when it's under load. If it's getting too hot (above 90°C), this could be a sign of an underlying hardware issue.

Dust and Heat Sink Cleaning:

  • Over time, dust can accumulate inside your laptop and block airflow, causing it to overheat. Try cleaning out the vents and heat sinks carefully using compressed air.

Remember to back up your data before making any significant changes to your system, especially when updating the BIOS. And be cautious when cleaning the internal components to avoid causing any damage.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
