Victus by HP Gaming Laptop 15-fa0000 (680A4AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

My HP Victus laptop's left hinge is broken ,Like it got opened up currently i taped and using it  otherwise the crack gets larger. This problem happened one week after my warranty expired.

I visited the nearby HP store but they asked me to replace the whole display panel ,everything around it , which costs around 10k. And they said it doesnt cover in accidental protection or warranty.  As it is a huge cost i just left ,but now the screens starts to flicker (Horizontal lines which are very minute to see  ). And also the rubber support under my laptop got peeled , I trusted HP would be best and thats why i bought this , but I'm really frustrated after getting this many issues just after my warranty expired . Warranty expired (26 Dec 2025)  and the hinge got opened at 3 Jan 2026 .

I found many posts similiar to this where their hinges got opened up.https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Video-Display-and-Touch/Left-Side-Display-Hinge-Snapping-the-...

As this is a common issue around Victus users this is a manufacturing problem, ! So i want my Laptop to get serviced  and they shouldnt charge me the panel costs right, I can pay some nominal service charges but as this is a manufacturing issue as it happens in many of the victus laptop i need this to be  replaced by HP. Please rectify this problem as soon as possible.

I now contacted the support , they said it would have solved , if the issue had arised within the warranty period.  Nothing can be done even if its their fault that the hinge got opened! I dont know if they timed this issue to occur right after warranty.

Hi @Saltice,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I completely understand how  this must feel, especially since the hinge issue appeared so soon after your warranty expired. From what you’ve described, it does sound like a hardware repair is required, as the hinge damage can affect the display panel and lead to issues like flickering lines.

Since your warranty has already expired, the best next step would be to have the laptop physically inspected at an HP Authorized Service Center. The technicians there will be able to diagnose the hinge and display issue hands-on, and provide you with a detailed repair estimate. While I know only the service team can confirm whether the entire panel needs replacement or if a more limited repair is possible.

To ensure your device receives the appropriate care, we recommend visiting an authorized HP service center. Our certified technicians can provide a thorough diagnosis and offer the best solutions to address the issue.

Hi @Deep_World

I have already done checking the repair estimate  both in customer support via call and HP authorised service center .Onsite will be 26000 rupees  and the HP authorised service center will charge me 11000 rupees for the entire panel (They didn't offer to change or repair any specific part, so cost is high). The Problem is i cant afford such huge sum it would be reasonable if atleast im the cause of this damage ,So i guess i need to use my laptop until i can see something in the screen. If this is such a design error by HP why can't they change it and still they are following the same design in the hinges for years. I dont know how they designed it specifically to break just 4 days after warranty ends, Seems like they spent their entire design budget to make it break specifically after warranty ends. I'm never gonna buy a hp product like this again.
Additional info :
On Jan 6 2026 i directly went to a HP authorised service center just a week after my warranty expired ,they actually misguided me saying that it wont be covered even if you have had warranty or accidental damage protection. But Based on the situation if i applied any extended warranty after this got broke still i cant get the display replaced as your company policy doesnt allows that! Lets say i had my warranty still and i have gone to that service center ! i would've been made fooled that this doesnt gets covered in warranty and left!!

As they misguided me before i didnt apply for warranty again as i thought warranty is simply waste! but now i got to know its false but 2 months have passed and now i cant even apply for extended warranty to repair for some other issues!
For other users make sure to apply for extended warranty if you still can!! As who knows what problem will happen in a HP product.

Hi @Saltice,

Thanks for your response.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. I truly understand how it must feel to face a hinge issue right after your warranty expired.

To clarify, hinge and panel damages are generally categorized as physical damage, which is why they are not covered under standard warranty policies.

Your trust is important to us, and I’m sorry this situation has left you feeling let down. Thank you again for sharing your experience.
