Help!
I have a HP pavilion gaming laptop model 15_dk0047nl and it has started to overheat even when I watch youtube.
I opened it up to clean it and I use a cooling station but it doesent help.
What can I do to solve my problem?

Hi @eliagus05
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.
Here are a few steps to help diagnose and potentially resolve the overheating issue on your HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop model 15_dk0047nl:
1. Ensure Proper Ventilation
- Place your laptop on a flat, hard surface rather than soft materials like pillows or blankets which can block ventilation.
- Using a cooling pad as you mentioned is great, but ensure it’s functioning correctly and providing efficient airflow.
2. Clean the Internal Components
- Since you have already opened the laptop to clean it, make sure all dust is removed from the fans, heatsinks, and vents.
- If comfortable, reapply thermal paste to the CPU and GPU for better heat conduction.
3. Update System Drivers
- Outdated drivers can cause hardware components to work inefficiently. Make sure all drivers are updated:
- Windows Update: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for updates.
- HP Support Assistant: This utility can help find and install the latest drivers specific to your device. Download it from the HP Support Assistant.
4. Check for Software Updates
- Ensure your Windows 11 operating system is fully updated.
- Look for firmware updates on the HP support website for your model.
5. Manage Resource Usage
- Task Manager: Check for applications consuming excess CPU, which can cause overheating. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
- Settings: Turn off unnecessary background apps via Settings > Privacy > Background apps.
6. Power Settings
- Adjust your power settings for optimal performance:
- Go to Settings > System > Power & Sleep > Additional power settings.
- Select Balanced or Power Saver rather than High Performance.
7. Check for Hardware Issues
- If none of the above steps resolve the overheating, there might be an issue with the cooling system like a faulty fan or thermal sensor.
- Consult with HP customer support for a more thorough diagnosis or consider visiting a certified repair center.
8. Windows Troubleshooting Tools
- Use built-in tools to diagnose any system issues. Go to Control Panel > System and Security > Security and Maintenance > Troubleshoot common computer problems.
If my response helped, please mark it as an Accepted Solution! ✅ It helps others and spreads support. 💙 Also, tapping "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" makes a big difference! Thanks! 😊
Take care, and have an amazing day!
