HP Omen 15 5012tx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Today I decided to factory reset my omen for a fresh start. However, it removed every program that was ever installed on the laptop when I first purchased it. It automically gave me windows 10. So I was wondering, where can I get the latest drivers and softwares for the omen? I know I can download them off the official HP website but they seem outdated. The HP Omen control center is also not avaliable for download so how can I change the colours of my keyboard?

Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and would like to help.

I understand that you have an HP OMEN Notebook - 15-5012tx and Windows 10 has got reinstalled it. This has removed all preinstalled programs and drivers. You have checked and found that the HP Omen control center is unavailable.

I did some research and found that your laptop came preinstalled with Windows 8.1 (64-bit). Therefore the recovery partition on the hard drive should contain the same operating system. Technically it is not possible for the laptop to install a different version of Windows.

I also found on the HP website that the HP OMEN Control Software is available for download only for Windows 8.1 and not for Windows 10. There are few drivers available for Windows 10 at the HP website that may be downloaded from this link: http://hp.care/2hS833I.

You may, however, try to directly install the HP OMEN Control Software for one of the HP OMEN Notebook - 15 series laptop and check if it helps: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp70501-71000/sp70894.exe

Hope this information helps. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions. Cheers! 🙂

Huh ok so I actually had windows 10 installed for almost the whole year and I factory reset through the reset pc settings. Is there actually a way for me to go back to windows 8.1? HP recovery manager is also missing from my laptop.

Hi@Batruto,

Thanks for the response.

The I recommend you to place an order for recovery media by calling the Phone support using the link below.

I was unable to find any links to order the recovery media online.

ah it doesn't really matter now I guess. Had this pc for 2 years so I guess I'll just start fresh. I got what I really wanted though from this restart and that was....to get the animated keyboard to work. I'm guessing it was an unreleased feature because we got the animated speakers but not the animated keyboard lol.
