WE HAVE A FIX!!!

With the new Event Viewer, the lighting can now be changed and you can also change the fan speed from within Omen Control!

EDIT: After some testing I don't believe the fans are being regulated automatically. I got the temp up to around 179F, with no noticeable increase in fan speed. I guess for right now, manual control is the best we can do. MUCH better than no control at all.

ShruikaN, thank you for the good news! As soon as I take care of some business around the house I will turn my Omen on and install the latest drivers.

ShruikaN, does the manual fn+f work?
HP Recommended
Not entirely sure what you mean but fn+f always worked for me. With the update you can set the function keys to not need the fn key pressed, like it was when you had 8.1 still installed. That functionality is back as well. Omen Control is fully operational again.

Confirmed on my pc, I have full control of the fan's both virtuallly and physically again.

Do your fans increase with temp?

EDIT: Just got mine going with temp increase. All is well again. Looks like you won't need that USB 😛

ShruikaN, I haven't noticed my fans increasing with temperature. I however noticed a faint smell of electronical, I'm keeping an extremely close eye on this right now

I noticed a an increase in fan noise when my temp hit 185 (purposefully heating it to test), but nowhere near maxium so I guess you can say, it's not all fine. Stupid thing got my hopes up haha.

That smell is defintiely not good. What was the temp when you first noticed it?

ShruikaN, I noticed the smell at around 101 to 105 degrees. I had the system running on Maximum fan speed for 15 to 20 minutes stepped out of the room and came in the smell like it was a wall.
I'm going load the system and see if I can't get the fans to increase with the temperature.
I will say that while this is a "fix" it's not a very solid one.
I will be vigilant over this for a while, but if asked my true inclination I would prefer to take the os back to stock, it seemed "happier" that way 😕

I've put a tax on the system and the fan's did increase as the temperature did. My last temperature check was 2 minutes ago and it was at 140 degrees. The fans sound like they are running at maximum.
Haven't noticed a electronical smell yet.
