What is the maximum amount of ram I can put in my omen 17-124cl laptop with 2 slots. Right now I have 2 x 8 gig

If this is your notebook...

 

OMEN by HP - 17-an124cl Product Specifications | HP® Customer Support

 

You should be able to install 2 x 16 GB of DDR4-2666 MHz memory in it.

 

See chapter 1 of the service manual for the memory upgrade info...
