At first, my PC was showing issues only during heavy usage — like when rendering or playing games. The screen and case LEDs would flicker rapidly, repeating several times. Eventually, the screen would go completely black, the LEDs would shut off, but the fans and the system would remain on.

A few days ago, the same issue happened again. I manually set the fans to maximum speed, and surprisingly, it worked. I was able to play a game and then shut down the PC normally.

However, now the computer doesn't power on at all. There's no response — no screen, no lights, no fan movement. It's completely unresponsive.

If anyone has experienced something similar or has any ideas for a solution, I’d really appreciate the help.

Hi @emo242,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Based on your description, this sounds like a progressive hardware failure, possibly related to power delivery, motherboard, or GPU instability. Here's a structured approach to diagnose and potentially recover your HP PC:

1. Power Drain & Hard Reset

This clears residual power and resets embedded controllers.

  1. Disconnect all peripherals and the power adapter.
  2. Hold the power button for 30–60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect only the power adapter and try powering on.

2. Check for Signs of Life

  • No lights, fans, or display usually points to:
    • Faulty power adapter or DC jack
    • Failed motherboard or VRMs
    • Short circuit or blown fuse

Try:

  • A known working charger.
  • Inspect the DC jack for looseness or damage.

3. Remove RAM and SSD (if accessible)

Sometimes, faulty RAM or SSD can prevent boot.

  1. Remove RAM and SSD.
  2. Try powering on without them.
  3. If it powers on or shows error beeps/lights, reinstall one component at a time.

4. External Monitor Test

If the screen is black but fans spin (in future attempts), connect to an external monitor via HDMI or DisplayPort to rule out display failure.

5. Inspect for Burnt Components

If you're comfortable opening the case:

  • Look for burnt marksbulging capacitors, or disconnected cables.
  • Check the GPU and CPU heatsinks for proper seating.

I hope this helps.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
