question about bios and warranty

Hello Community.

I just bought a Omen 15 dc0030ca, and its getting really hot 94C cpu, 88C GPU.

Im playing Civilization V while pluged in the battery, if its not plug in it doesnt get that hot. 

So I did some research and I will update the bios. However this is HP tutorial: link 

I cant find the BitLocker because I am on Windows 10 Home (its the one that comes with the laptop). So here are my questions: 

Can I just skip that step, or is it a different tutorial?

Why does it get hot with the battery? Can I change that?

Regarding the warranty I was just wondering If I need to register my laptop with HP to have the full access to the support. 

If you have any additional information or tip that you can give it to a new omen laptop owner, I appreciate it 🙂

Skip it.

You should game while plugged in when ever possible.

Its hard on the battery to game with and the recycles will make the battery come to its end of life much faster.

I do, and thats when it gets reeeeally hot, why does it get hotter when I am plugged in? Can I make the settings plugged in the same settings as is on battery so it doesnt get too hot?

Yes you need to register the laptop.

I registered, and also add my device to HP Support Assistant, and filled in the form for HP Care Pack, they didn't ask any banking information, is Care Pack for free?

Its probably the CPU that's heating up, not the battery. It will heat up more while plugged in because its working hard during a game and not getting throttled back.

You can install a program to monitor the temperature as you play to give you an idea what its doing.

See what the CPU temps are when you game and let me know what it says.

Care packs are not free. They are an extension of the warranty plus some, but they cost extra depending on which one you choose.

Alright, so here is what I did:

Updated BIOS. However on HP website it says that the version was released 12 of nov. and the version is F0.7 Rev A.

The one that I got on my system info is F0.7 released on 30 od october.

I used the link provided by the website!

Downloaded the real temp. After 1 hour gaming on Civ V the temp on the cores were between 88 and 91. 

The good thing is that as soon as I close the game the temps go straight to 71, really fast cooldown.

Yep its the CPU. They get hot on an Omen but 91 is too hot for my taste.

You will need to undervolt the system to drop that temp a little.

One thing you could try without installing anything...

Type Power Options in the Search bar and hit the Enter key.

Go to Additional Power Settings.

Go to Change Plan Settings.

Go to Change Advanced Power Settings.

In the new window that pops open, scroll down to Processor power management>Maximum processor state.

Change the percentage down to 99% on plugged in.

Let me know if that helps drop the temps when gaming.

Im still hitting 90C. Even the keyboard gets warm. 

Again cooldown really fast though

Sorry about that. Two choices.

You can install INtel XTU and do some manual undervolting to the CPU.

I will post a link to a video that explains what it is and how to use it. There are lots of tutorials on the net.

Omens run hot and the only way I know to make it run cooler is to do this...

Otherwise you could contact HP Support and make a warranty claim. I doubt they will get you very far though.

I did make a claim on my warranty and after 1 month it came back with the exact same issue.

I used throttlestop undervoltes -130mV core and -125 cache, its better but not there yet
