According to that article it could be that the SSD isn't seated all the way into it's slot so I'll open it up and make sure then if it persists I'll look into the firmware then if it still persists I'll consider what to do next. Thank you

out of curiosity i looked up some videos of what coil whine in laptops sounds like and from those videos it sounds very similar to what im experiencing. i didnt consider it to be coil whine as ive never really heard coil whine myself so wasn't expecting it to be crackly 

one tips in one of the videos was to ever so slightly adjust the power plan for 100 down to 99 and that seems to reduce the noise almost to nothing

 

if it does start to persist again in future ill be sure to follow this up
