@JorgeSaavedra, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP laptop camera

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

For HP laptops, if your camera is reporting that it is blocked or turned off by a switch or button, here are some steps you can follow to unblock or enable your camera:

Check Physical Switch or Button:

  • Some HP laptops have a physical switch or a function key (often one of the F keys, like F6 or F10) that can disable the camera. Look for a camera icon on your function keys or check the sides of your laptop to see if there's a physical switch for the webcam.

Enable Camera via Settings:

  • Go to Start > Settings > Privacy > Camera.
  • Ensure that “Camera access for this device” is turned on.

Device Manager:

  • Open Device Manager by right-clicking on the Start button and selecting Device Manager.
  • Locate Imaging Devices and expand it.
  • Right-click on your camera device and choose Enable if it is disabled.

Update Camera Drivers:

  • In the Device Manager, look for your camera under Imaging Devices.
  • Right-click on it, and choose Update driver.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to update the camera driver.

Privacy Settings:

  • Ensure privacy settings are not restricting camera use. Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera and make sure apps are allowed to use the camera.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
