I have an HP Envy 4500 printer, connected via wifi

I printed a few documents with it the day I bought it and now months later I want to print again.

Printer is now asking for passcode

I have my 'congradulations your printer is now connected' yadda yadda

I tired the 'claim code' from that, is not working

Message

I am now getting is 'there was an error connecting to the printer please retype the passphrase'

Is it attempting to ask for my wifi password?

The prompts this is giving are absolute garbage.

I am very furstrated by your product and your company

Please tell me:  exactly what password is wanted.  Wifi password or printer password?

If printer password, where can this be found, where can it be reset from?

What device are you trying to print from? PC or phone

What is the status of the wireless light? Is it blinking or steady blue

@Iamfrustrated12,

Thank you for replying,

As I understand you are getting this message on the computer screen, so don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you resolve this issue.

First, unplug the USB cable from the printer if present.

Go to Control panel – Programs and feature – Select all the HP Envy printer entries and uninstall them.

Now go to Control panel – Devices and printer – Select all the printer entries and remove the device.

Press the "windows key" + "r" to get the "Run" window open - Type "printui.exe /s" (There is a space between .exe & /) and press enter.

Under print server properties, go to drivers - remove any entry there as well.

Again, go to the Run window, type – “c:/programdata” – Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.

Restart the computer.

Now click on this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-envy-4500-e-all-in-one-printer-series/5304875 (Please select the Operating system and version of Windows before downloading and installing the printer software).

Connect the USB cable only when prompted and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.

Let me know if those steps worked for you.

If they did, that’s awesome!

Give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

That’ll help us and others see that we’ve got the answers!

Good Luck.
