HP Envy Photo 6234

Hello, I have a HP Photo Envy 6234 printer which up until a few weeks ago it was working perfectly fine.  One morning it was switched off at the mains and switched back on again and since then it has stopped working.  The control panel on the printer and the on/off button do not work at all. When it is switched on at the mains the control panel just shows a loading bar with 5 dots underneath, as it loads the bar turns black but once it is fully black it just stops and does nothing.  I have tried all the suggestions (one) regarding switching it off and the mains and leave it for 10 mins and then switch it back on but it just does the same thing every time, loads then stops.  As the product is just out of warranty I cannot get any help from HP whatsoever, and I cannot believe that suddenly overnight the printer can go from perfectly fine to broken and un-fixable.  Please can anyone offer any help on how to get this printer working again? I cannot afford to buy a new one!

@rachw13, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

It seems like there was a power surge at your place. Make sure you have tried the steps mentioned in this document - Printer Does Not Turn On.

Try with a good known wall outlet.

Leave the printer unplugged for couple of hours and then try to power it on.

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

If the issue persists, please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

If the printer is out of warranty, I suggest you upgrade the printer. You may visit Hp Store to check the available printers.

Hi, thank you for your response, I have only just seen it.  Unfortunately your solution did not help.  The printer turns on from the mains but it does not more past the loading bar.  When I check the printer status on my computer it says that it is not turned on but it does have power to it (as you can see from the image below).  Please does anyone have any suggestions that may help?  I have tried a few that i can find online re resetting but to no avail.  Please help, I cannot afford a new printer yet as I have been out of work since early in the year due to Covid. Many thanks in advance to anyone that can help.IMG_2613.jpg

I understand your concern. However, there are no other troubleshooting steps that can be performed in this state of the printer. This is a hardware failure. if the printer is under warranty, HP will replace it for you. Kindly contact the HP Support team as mentioned in my previous post.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
