Hello HP community,

I am having issues linking my pre-owned HP DeskJet printer to my account, and also this happens when I am trying to sign up to HP Instant Ink.

The error I recieve for both is: UA_400_EB000U0410

Having looked online for a solution, I believe this is the correct resolution for me?

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/HP-Instant-Ink/Remove-printer-from-previous-owners-instant-ink-account...

Can I have the same solution applied to my account, and is this an adequate resolution?

Many thanks,

- Hassan

Hi @Hassan128,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand you’re getting the UA_400_EB000U0410 error when trying to link your pre-owned HP DeskJet printer to your HP account or sign up for HP Instant Ink. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this and how to fix it.

Confirm the printer isn’t linked to a previous owner’s account
This error often appears when the printer is still associated with someone else’s HP account or Instant Ink subscription.
Removing the printer from the previous owner’s account often resolves the issue.

Log into the account originally used to set up the printer
If possible, ask the previous owner to remove the printer from their HP Smart / HP account.
Once removed, you should be able to add it to your own account without the error.

Remove and re-add the printer in HP Smart
Open the HP Smart app, remove the printer from your list, then add it again.

This refreshes the registration process and can clear the UA_400_EB000U0410 error.

Restart the printer and network
Turn the printer off, wait 30–60 seconds, then power it back on.
Also restart your Wi-Fi router to ensure a stable setup connection.

Update the printer firmware
With the printer connected to the network, check for firmware updates in the HP Smart app.
Updated firmware can fix account registration issues.

Check your Internet connection and network settings
Make sure your phone/PC and the printer are on the same Wi-Fi network without VPNs or proxy services.

Try HP Smart on another device
If the PC setup fails, try adding the printer using HP Smart on a smartphone or tablet on the same network.

I hope this helps.

Hello @Kuroi_Kensh,

Thank you for responding to my printer problem, unfortunately I have no way to contact the previous owner and therefore unable to remove their account from my printer.

Is there something that can be done about this?

Thank you,

- Hassan
