On Friday I contacted hp instant ink because my black ink was running out, I had rung the same telephone number that I had rung for years. A man told me that my computer and printer was not communicating with hp instant ink and said I needed to update my security. He gave me a price of £100 and at that point I didn’t think anything of it until once he had taken over my computer and supposedly done the security all these transaction were being taken from bank account, and credit card. Three transactions for supposedly Microsoft were coming out of my bank, Amazon gift cards were being purchased and the same on my credit cards. The £100 that I authorized for the supposedly security came up on my credit card as gift card group. In total nearly £800.00 was  being attempted to be taken. The issue has not been resolved as of yet and I’m still fighting to get these transactions reversed. The stress of this has had a detrimental impact on myself, as I thought HP was good company. I have therefore cancelled ,y subscription and will not deal with them again

Hi @Minime64,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I truly hear your concern about the experience you’ve gone through. I completely understand how upsetting and stressful this must feel, especially when you believed you were speaking with HP Instant Ink support.

Please know that HP would never ask for remote access to your computer or request payments in the form of gift cards.

To help us investigate and ensure this doesn’t happen to others, could you please share:

The telephone number you dialed when you reached the person.

The exact name or description that appeared on your credit card statement for the £100 transaction.

We will this matter reviewed by  our appropriate teams.

In the meantime, I  recommend that you:

  • Contact your bank and credit card provider immediately to report the fraud and block further unauthorized transactions.
  • Run a full security scan on your computer to ensure no malicious software was installed.
  • Keep a record of all fraudulent charges and communications for your bank’s fraud department.

kindly share the above details via Private message .
