Common problems for INSTANT INK, HP+ PLANS: INK AND TONER
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Instant Ink. Check out this link: HP INSTANT INK, HP+ PLANS: INK AND TONER. .

I just purchased the HP Envy 6155e All‑in‑One Printer. It came with a purple and white card that says I can enroll in a free three month trial for ink (one month is free for paper). There is NO pin code on the card. In my HP Smart account, when I go to enroll in Insta Ink, it is asking me for a pin code to enroll in a plan. What do I do? Also, I printed 16 pages of color images that I use for references for painting. My Smart account is showing that I am just about out of ink for the color cartridge already? Is this normal? Not a happy camper at the moment. Thank you for any and all help.

Hi @vegasgem,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

All the Instant Ink trial details, including the PIN (if required), are usually sent directly to the email address linked to your HP account during setup. That purple card is more of an info card, not where the actual code is printed.

So just check your email inbox (and spam/junk folder too). You should see a mail from HP with either:

  • A direct activation link (most common), or
  • The PIN code you need

Use that to complete the enrollment.

About the ink,  yeah, that can look scary early on. When you first install cartridges, the printer uses some ink to prime the system, and printing 16 color images (especially detailed ones for painting) can drop the levels quickly. The ink indicator is also an estimate, so it’s not always perfectly accurate at the start.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀
