HP Envy Photo 7164 wont print color with MAC

Hello, I just bought this printer and the color test with the new cartridge went fine (although it only showed light blue, not sure if that's correct). I have tried printing Word document with color and web pages. The preview page shows it in black and gray and not the actual color on web pages. For Word it appears in color in the preview, but it won't print the color.


How can I change the settings to print color? 


There are no setting options to change within the System Preferences of the Printer. On Print Preview, there shows a way to edit defaults -but the only options are black and white or black and white -gray draft?!

I understand you're unable to print in color from your Mac Computer, this could be an issue with the print driver settings or the installed drivers itself. Let us try to isolate and fix the issue-


Ensure the print settings are correct. Refer to the document HP Printers - Print Settings Guide (Mac) for help.


Update the printer firmware

Download available firmware updates from the HP website

With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. Refer to the document HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware.


If the issue persists, we can try removing and adding the printer using AirPrint drivers. Here is how you do it-


Click the Apple menu, and then select System Preferences.

Depending on your operating system version, click Print & Fax, Print & Scan, or Printers & Scanners.

Click the name of your printer, click the Minus sign, and then delete the printer.


Select printer and click the minus sign

Click the Plus sign, and then click Add Printer or Scanner.

Click the Use or Print Using box, and then select AirPrint


Select AirPrint from the Use menu


Click Add to add the printer to the list.

Try to print.
