OfficeJet Pro 6968

I ran into the same problem with my 4 year old OfficeJet Pro 6968 printer. When I dug into the HP help and support link from HP smart, I eventually got a message that my printer had been identified as one that had defective cartridges, and that new cartridges were being sent. I had just received a new Instant Ink set a few days before I contacted them. It wasn't clear if this new Instant Ink set was the replacement for the defective cartridges, or just a routine shipping. I tried the new  Instant Ink cartridges, but no improvement.

As a result of a chat, HP sent me yet another set of all four cartridges, even though I had just received  the Instant Ink renewal ones. I tried these new cartridges,  but they didn't work. In fact, I have now lost yellow, too. So no Blues, no Greens, no Yellow. Everything is just pink--printing or copying. The person I chatted with said that if this last set of cartridges didn't work it would be a hardware issue. I'm not convinced of that, as the new yellow cartridge is now not working. So far I can copy and print in Black and White.

So, if someone out there has a different theory, dying to hear it.

Hi @Cymro2,

I'd like to help!

I understand you are facing print quality issues.

If you have already performed the steps from the document Black or Color Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues and the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure.

Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile Name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

Hope this helps!

I just received an email from Instant Ink saying that another set of color cartridges has been sent. Guess I'll wait for them to arrive, try them and see if that was the problem. If not, I'll go through the processes outlined.  I've done a few like cleaning the heads, but haven't tried reloading drivers yet.
