HP OfficeJet Pro 8025e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I purchased a HP 8025e.  When I set it up I was offered HP+ as an option.  On the setup page HP said that I could cancel at any time.  I don't print much, ... maybe 10 pages or so a month... So when it came time to purchase new cartridges I went to Amazon and purchased what were claimed to be fully compatible cartridges for the printer.  Well, I have learned a huge lesson.  They didn't work.  Yesterday I spent hours on line with Ria at HP support who was unable to help me.  It seems that, even if you want to cancel the HP+ service, if you accepted the trial when you set up the computer (cancel at any time) the printer becomes irrevocably set to HP+ FOREVER.  This means that one can never use third party cartridges in an HP+ printer.  This deception seems totally unfair.  OOBE is an option in the printer system information section that supposedly permits the use of third party cartridges.  Well, HP+, once enabled will not allow this.  The consumer/HP customer has no way of knowing this will happen because supposedly, HP+ can be cancelled....according to the printer setup procedure.  Frankly I am extremely upset that HP would do this.  It is a deceptive business practice that forces one to spend 50% more on ink cartridges than a printer that never enabled HP+.  I want a replacement printer!
