Common problems for INSTANT INK, HP+ PLANS: INK AND TONER
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Instant Ink. Check out this link: HP INSTANT INK, HP+ PLANS: INK AND TONER. .

Hi, I joined Instant Ink when my company sent me a printer with the cartridges (NOT Instant Ink Cartridges but cartridges they bought in a shop with the printer). I thought it would be good to pay monthly and then get cartridges as I need them. It turns out 3 years later, I still haven't needed any cartridges but have spent about $100 in monthly payments to Instant Ink. I called customer service and they told me if I cancel my printer won't work anymore - but the ink is MY ink.  I don't know how they can turn off my printer remotely, but let's see, as I just cancelled this ridiculous subscription.  When asking for a refund, I get sent from one person to another, phone, WhatsApp and online messaging - but nobody can help, and they all say the same thing - that my printer will stop working, and there is no refund because you're using the ink.  How many times have I said - my company paid for the ink, it is NOT instant ink ink... but they just don't seem to understand or won't understand. Please - this is making me crazy.  I have never received anything for the money I spent.  Wish I had never signed up like an idiot.  How do I get this money refunded?

Hey @CherryB88,

Thank you for your response

I totally get your frustration. Here’s a simpler explanation of how it works:

Instant Ink Subscription: You pay monthly based on the number of pages you print, not the ink itself. The cartridges are sent when your printer needs more ink.

Why the Printer Stops: When you cancel the subscription, the printer can’t recognize the Instant Ink cartridges anymore, so it won’t work. It’s not about the ink being “yours” – it’s about the printer being linked to the Instant Ink plan.

Refund Issue: The payments you’ve made are for the subscription (pages you could print), not the ink itself. That’s why they don’t refund unused ink or subscriptions.

For further assistance, I recommend reaching out to our Instant Ink support team directly. They’ll be able to provide more detailed help with your issue. HP Instant Ink – Ink Monthly Subscription | HP Official Site
