Hi @Jo154154,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Transferring your printer and its associated HP Instant Ink subscription to your son involves a few steps to ensure everything is correctly set up and the subscription continues without interruption. Here's a step-by-step guide:

Step 1: Prepare the Printer

Unlink the Printer from Your HP Account:

  • Log in to your HP Instant Ink account: Go to HP Instant Ink and sign in.
  • Cancel the Subscription: Find the option to cancel your Instant Ink subscription for your printer. Note that you will need to re-enroll the printer under a new account (your son's).
  • Remove the Printer: After canceling the subscription, remove the printer from your HP account.

Reset the Printer:

  • Factory Reset: Reset the printer to factory settings to clear your personal information and network settings. This can usually be done through the printer's settings menu. Refer to the printer's manual for specific instructions.

Step 2: Transfer the Printer

  1. Physical Transfer:
    • Ensure the printer is in good working condition and all necessary accessories (like power cords and ink cartridges) are included.

Step 3: Set Up the Printer for Your Son

Create a New HP Account:

  • Have your son create a new HP account if he doesn't already have one. This can be done at HP Instant Ink.

Set Up the Printer:

  • Connect the printer to your son's Wi-Fi network.
  • Follow the setup instructions either on the printer’s display or through the HP Smart app on a computer or mobile device.

Enroll in HP Instant Ink:

  • With the new HP account, go to HP Instant Ink and sign in.
  • Enroll the printer in the Instant Ink program using the new account details. Your son will need the printer's serial number during this process.

Step 4: Complete the Transfer

Activate the Subscription:

  • Choose a suitable Instant Ink plan based on the expected usage.
  • Enter payment information to complete the enrollment.

Test the Printer:

  • Print a test page to ensure the printer is working correctly and the Instant Ink subscription is active.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
