Hi @Mollie22,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing an issue with your ink. Here’s a general troubleshooting guide for common ink-related problems:

**1. Check Ink Levels

  • Ink Levels: Ensure the ink cartridges have enough ink. Many printers have a feature in their software or control panel to check the ink levels.

**2. Inspect Ink Cartridges

  • Installation: Make sure the cartridges are properly installed and seated correctly.
  • Protection Tape: Verify that any protective tape or packaging has been removed from the cartridges.

**3. Clean the Print Head

  • Cleaning Utility: Use the printer's built-in cleaning function to clean the print head. This can help clear any clogs or dried ink.

**4. Align the Print Head

  • Alignment: Run the print head alignment utility. This helps ensure that the print head is properly aligned for accurate printing.

**5. Check for Print Head Clogs

  • Manual Cleaning: If cleaning utilities don’t resolve the issue, you may need to manually clean the print head. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for this process.

**6. Update Printer Drivers

  • Driver Update: Ensure that your printer drivers are up to date. Visit the HP website to download and install any available updates.

**7. Check Printer Settings

  • Print Quality Settings: Ensure the printer settings are set to the correct print quality (e.g., "Normal" or "Best" rather than "Draft").

**8. Inspect the Paper Path

  • Paper Jam: Ensure there are no paper jams or obstructions in the paper path that could be affecting print quality.

**9. Perform a Printer Reset

  • Reset: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
