Hi I want to give my printer to my daughter for my grand daughter to use. I have an Instant Ink subscription. My daughter would like to start an instant ink subscription. How do we go about transferring it?. I have read that I need to cancel my subscription and then my daughter can register with instant ink, But, doesn't she need to print a code when she sets up her account? Will the printer let her do this if it only has my instant ink cartridges in side?

I hope that makes sense.

Thanks

@Deborah26, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand your concern and the question is valid. You cannot transfer the account. Yes, you will need to cancel your account and only then it can be re-enrolled by your daughter.

You can continue printing until the last day of the billing cycle after canceling the service using the Instant Ink cartridges. So yes, your daughter has to claim the printer before the last date of your billing cycle.

If you are claiming it after the billing cycle, the Instant Ink cartridges will not work and you have to use regular ink cartridges to print the claim code.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
