My HP is connected to wifi and I can print wirelessly. It is connected via USB to my computer and works fine - but it does not connect to HP.
Every time I print, after the job completes, I receive the message "Connect Printer so replacement cartridge can be ordered" and the option "Connect/OK". Then Error message in HP Smart saying "!Printer Cannot Print". Message clears when I hit "Connect" on printer panel but HP Smart program panel shows "Not ready to print".
Also log shows I have printed nothing for past couple of months

Welcome to the HP User Community.
The printer must be connected to the Web Services / Internet to update page / print activity and to monitor your Instant Ink subscription.
USB cable connection between printer and computer is not going to provide the necessary connection.
Wireless to your home network by itself is not going to provide the connection to Web Services / Internet.
I've sent a request for Review about your concern.
The Review process generally works - but it is not always fast.
You might well be able to fix this for yourself.
