Yes the same increase (50%) without warning and very difficult to contact them to ask why?

HP Recommended

From $3.99 to $5.49, a 40% increase. There is no way any of their costs have gone up enough to justify such a brutal increase..

This is a complete ripoff. I've been a loyal HP customer for 20 years but now I'm selling my printer and buying another brand.

I like you was absolutely shocked by the 50% increase in cost especially as I’m still on my first set of cartridges too. I also feel really uncomfortable not having a set of cartridges on standby as I’m a bit of a binge printer and I know I’ll run out half way through a run. Had I known you didn’t get a spare set to have on standby and this kind of price hike shenanigans were going to happen I’d have given HP a wide birth. I thought instant ink was a great way to avoid making people pay exorbitant prices a teaspoon for ink and to help me cut down on plastic waste. Come on HP why the price increase and why so much? You at least you owe your customers is an explanation or they won’t be customers in the future.

HP Envy 5020 Am trying to put the App on my phone to print from it but App will not accept log in details just says they do not match.

Sounds like you have issued something without testing it properly, typical rubbish from a big company who slap a 50% increase on

If the app is saying that the details match, I wonder if there was a typo in the registered details. Or whether you used a different email address to register?

While I had some issues setting up the printer, I was able to register and set up the app without any problems. I don't know what operating system you're using - but on the Apple app store, the HP Smart app gets an average score of 4.7 and that's from 500,000 ratings. I had a scan of the negative reviews and recent comments suggest that people can register, but are unhappy about other stuff. I completely agree on the massive price hike - and the way this was communicated was poor.  However, I think it's a little unfair to say that the app is rubbish because you cannot get it set up. I have no affiliation with HP and I have been quite critical of the plan and price changes. There may be a fault but no software is perfect - and it might even not be a software issue.

It might be worth asking the question about phone apps a a separate topic.  You might get more answers.  It's probably one to raise direct with HP support, as we cannot see your personal details in this community.  Just a thought.

Good to hear that I am not alone with my anger!

HP, maybe someone could answer our questions officially? Or should we count your non-reaction as your interest in customers satisfaction?

Germany has a saying whicht fits perfectly to a price increase of more than 30% (2,99 € -> 3,99€).
We call that "gegen die guten Sitten verstoßen" which I would translate as infringing good ethical principles or basically it is shady and unethically!

Unfortuantely my printer is only 1,5 years old. I recommend HP a lot as an IT enthusiastic, but I guess, I want to this anymore.

This is a good story how not to treat loyal customers. I hope there will be some polls around...

50% increase is disgusting - goodbye Instant Ink!!!

I have been on Instant Ink £1.99 plan for a few years but am only on my second set of cartridges and have 150 roll over pages.  This increase is completely excessive.  However, as the 3 year old printer has just packed up anyway and appears to be unfixable I will consider other brands for a replacement (after about 15 years with HP printers) and cancel the instant ink.  I think they are going to lose a lot of customers and goodwill with this.

Just received an email 26th Jan 2022 saying my 50 page plan is going up from £1.99 to £2.99 from 1st March. (£23.88/y to £35.88, or +50%!). That's a brutal increase.  It was a good deal, now not so much. Thanks HP :o(

Yes, I think HP will lose goodwill and customers.

We will shortly be looking to buy laptops for our two children, and guess what  - HP are not at the top of our purchase list. Nor will we buying any printers, accessories or other kit from HP - for home or business use.

That's a few grand of purchases lost from me alone.
I would now rather pay more for similar specification models from another manufacturer.  And I know I'm not the only one - other customers have already switched to other brands.
