Hi @LOU220,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand you encountered a scam website while seeking help for a printer issue and they attempted to take money and access your computer. Let’s go through a few steps to understand what happened and make sure you’re protected.

Stop any active access immediately
If the scammers accessed your computer, disconnect it from the internet right away.
Shut down the system if it is still on.

Check what access was granted
Think about whether you installed any remote access software (such as AnyDesk, TeamViewer, or similar).
If yes, do not reopen it until the situation is reviewed.

Protect your accounts and information
Change passwords for your email, banking, and important online accounts using a different device if possible.
Monitor bank or card statements for any unauthorized activity.

Scan your computer for security risks
Once safe to reconnect, run a full antivirus or security scan.
This helps detect any malicious software that may have been installed.

Help us understand what happened
To assist you properly, we need a few details about the incident.

Please send us a private message with the following information:
– The webpage or phone number you contacted
– What the scammers asked you to do or install
– Whether any payment or personal details were shared
– Whether they still have remote access to your computer

Avoid using that webpage again
HP does not charge for basic printer troubleshooting through unofficial sites.
Be cautious of websites claiming “instant support” or requesting payment upfront.
