Common problems for INSTANT INK, HP+ PLANS: INK AND TONER
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Instant Ink. Check out this link: HP INSTANT INK, HP+ PLANS: INK AND TONER. .

I've received my first subscription ink cartridges and installed them. Everything seems OK -- HP Smart acknowledges the cartridge, diagnose & repair found no problems, internet connection good.

But, when I try to print, I enter Print -- the dialogue appears twice so I hit it twice. Nothing happens. No printing. No error message.

Is there something I am supposed to do to get the ink cartridge activated? The Virtual Assistant didn't find an answer.

Hello,

My model name is HP DeskJet 4200e All-in-One Printer series.

I need to be able to print from my computer. I have been unable to do that since installing the subscription ink.

Since I started this post, I have been able to print one page from my phone.

The link Help with Instant Ink problems | HP® Support brings to a page that is dysfunctional. All paths through HP  online help seem to lead there --  seriously, it's a mess!

Hi @LJT10,

Thank you for the update.

Since your HP DeskJet 4200e prints from your phone but not from your computer, the issue isn’t with the Instant Ink cartridges, they’re already activated. The problem is that Windows isn’t properly talking to the printer. Here’s how you can fix it:

Remove the Printer

Open your computer's Settings app.

Go to Bluetooth & devices.

Select Printers & Scanners.

Click on the DeskJet 4200e series from the list.

Click the Remove button.

Part 2: Re-Add the Printer

Still in the Printers & Scanners menu, click the Add device button.

Wait for your DeskJet 4200e to appear in the list.

Click Add device next to the printer name to reinstall it.

Download and install the HP DeskJet 4200e Full Feature Software and Driver from HP’s support site.

This package includes both printing and scanning support.

In Printers & scanners, make sure the 4200e is set as the default printer.

If another printer is set as default, jobs may silently fail.

Since printing works from your phone, the cartridges and printer hardware are fine.

The issue is Windows driver/configuration, not Instant Ink activation.

Once the full driver package is installed, printing from your computer should resume normally.

I hope this helps

Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀

Best regards,

Kuroi_Kenshi
