If you see a bit of ink on your cartridge, try reinstalling it to fix the problem. The thing is that some cartridges may not form a good seal when you put them in the slot, so the air gets in and stops them from working properly. If this happens, simply remove the cartridge and put it back again – this should help.

The document here has information on contacting HP to get replacement Instant Ink cartridges.  Go to the HP Instant Ink site, the phone number (or chat option for some countries) will be listed in the lower center of the opening screen.

Alternately, you can click on the Virtual Assistant.  When the assistant opens type "Where is my ink?" (w/o the quotes).  The system will ask a few questions and then schedule your shipment.

I had the same issue. removing and putting the cartridge back in helped me tho. I think its also important to buy only original ink cartridges. Like for my OfficeJet I only use these: https://www.officeworld.ch/de/tinten-toner-suche/hp-officejet-pro-9012-50301231
