Hi  @Habitatprinter

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand you're having trouble with your printer because of the ink subscription, and it also seems you're unable to add or use the printer normally.Dont worry I'll be glad to help you with this.

To assist you better, could you kindly share the following details?

  • Are you enrolled in HP Instant Ink?
  • Do you see any error messages on the printer display, HP App, or computer screen?
  • Are you trying to add the printer to a new HP account or a new device?
  • Have there been any recent changes to the subscription or payment method?

In the meantime, kindly try these steps:

  1. Open the HP App and check whether the printer appears as "Online."
  2. If using Wi‑Fi, print a Network Configuration Report and confirm the printer is connected to the same network as your device.
  3. Sign in to your HP account and verify the status of your Instant Ink subscription.
  4. If the printer is showing cartridge or subscription-related messages, remove and reinstall the ink cartridges, then restart the printer.
  5. Remove the printer from the HP App and add it again.

Based on your description, the printer may be linked to an HP Instant Ink subscription account. If the printer cannot verify the subscription status, the account information, or the installed Instant Ink cartridges, printing may be restricted until the account and printer can communicate correctly with HP services.

I hope this helps.

I'm an HP Employee.
