Hello.
I got an HP C4280 printer with a scanner. I bought original inks 350 and 351. I put in, installed the application from HP, everything worked. Scanner too. Estimated ink levels also showed around 90% well
However, after a few days I made the Full Reset according to this instruction:
"Reset Procedure
To reset your printer follow the steps below:
Make sure the printer is ON.
Press the "Cancel" and "Power" buttons at the same time for 5 seconds.
A message will now appear to enter a special Key Combo, press blue, green, gray buttons in sequence.
You should now be under the support menu.
Navigate using the keys (Blue for Up) and go to the Reset menu and choose "Semi-Full Reset"
Your printer should now start the reset process. "
because I wanted to have factory settings.
The whole device still works perfectly, but there is one problem. Estimated levels of ink show around 10%, and I printed only a few test pages.
I have read here that after the reset the ink levels are incorrect:
FAQ from HP support
"What to do if the displayed levels are incorrect?
Ink levels may not be displayed accurately for the following reasons.
You do not use original HP ink cartridges or cartridges.
A remanufactured, refilled or used cartridge has been installed.
the printer uses ink cartridges instead of cartridges, e.g. the DeskJet 5800 series;
the printer has gone through a full hardware reset. "
My question is:
How do you restore correct ink levels now?
I place two scans of test pages. First before reset, second after. There are some differences.

Welcome to the HP Support Community!
- During the initialization of the printer after a factory reset is performed, a large quantity of ink is consumed by the printer to complete the cycle.
- Replace the empty ink cartridge with a HP regular/XL ink cartridge for better results.
- For more information about cartridge yields and ink use, click here
Power resetting the printer and cleaning the ink cartridges may resolve this issue. Let us try these steps:
Step 1: Reset the printer
1. With the printer turned on, remove the ink cartridges, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
Step 2: Perform steps under solution two and three from this document.
- If cleaning and reseating the cartridge does not fix the problem, replace the cartridge with a new, compatible HP cartridge.
- If you have a defective cartridge or printhead, it might be under warranty. To check the warranty on your ink or toner supplies, go to Printer and Page Yield Overview, and then review the limited warranty information for your supplies.

I've done all the steps. Indeed, the colored ink contacts were dyed on the cartridge and inside. But it still shows the level of the carcass badly. The good news is that all of the Code on the test page equals 0.
Scan of the test page after cleaning.
What to do next?

The English version (picture hp1) takes you to the forum where I've already described my problem. The Polish version (picture of hp2) shows the phone, where the employee said that my printer is too old, has only her picture and can not help me.
