Hi Sebastian, I normally dont post in forums - but this experience annoyed me so much that I thought I would comment.  The short answer is no, I didnt get an answer.  The HP team - both on the forum and by private message are either intentional or unintentionally avoiding the question.  The simple answer seems to be that HP's latest firmware makes it so that you cannot use third party ink on their printers.  There seems to be an official "fix" for some printer models.  However, for the printer I had (HP OfficeJet Pro 6970), the "fix" was only for the printers manufactured before December 1, 2016; there is no "fix" for printers manufactured after December 1, 2016.

After many forum and email exchanges, I finally gave up and bought a new printer.

My experience through this is that the HP customer service has been terrible.

I didn't think I'd get any feedback at all. Just went 2 hours foraging through google and am ready to call it. Bought a set of ink that costs about half a new printer this morning too. Looks like we have to buy a new printer before the ink runs out, talk about single-use plastics... Anyway, thank you for responding! All the best to you. 🙂
