I have a HP OfficeJet Pro 8725 connected wirelessly to my PC. I do not need the ability to send or receiveFaxes but something I read seemed to insist that I needed the fax connection on the orinter to transmit my HP Ink requirements to HP. Is this correct? If this is the case and the? which unit transmits the message i.e. Printer faxe connection or PC If it is the PC then I do not require the fax connection. Can you help

What did you read that insists you need the printer Fax feature set up to transmit ink requirements?
Can you provide a link to the documentation or tell us where you found this information?
I am not aware of any such requirement.
IF you are asking about Instant Ink Service, then the printer must be connected to the Internet as explained in the contract.

Hi Dragon-fur
Thanks for your replay.Justb found the above reference in HP Instant Ink Terms of Service Paragraph 5 https://instantink.hpconnected.com/ie/en/terms
As I said in my original Messgae I have no use for the fax connection except for this "problem". I wouldnt bother trying to set the fax up but I have spent the entire afternoon trying to establish fax connection between the printer and my wall socket purely on the basis of the above line.
What does the word CONNECTED mean. Is it literally a physical link between printer and the internet or does it mean that a printer connected to the internet via a pc? I cannot set up any connection between the printer and my phone line.
Sorry for being so long-winded about it.

I admit to being confused.
I was asking where you found the original reference to needing the Fax:
Quoted:
"I do not need the ability to send or receive Faxes but something I read seemed to insist that I needed the fax connection on the printer to transmit my HP Ink requirements to HP."
I am concerned that you think I was sending you to look at an Instant Ink contract.
Just found the above reference in HP Instant Ink Terms of Service Paragraph 5
https://instantink.hpconnected.com/ie/en/terms
I am sorry to nit-pick about the wording - I am confused about when and where you originally found the reference you describe in your first post and why you think you need to set up the Fax.
Regardless, and I might be missing something, I cannot find the word "Fax" anywhere in the contract.
>>>> Are you indeed trying to subscribe to Instant Ink??
Having the printer connected to the Internet is NOT the same thing as setting up the printer to Fax.
Instant Ink subscription - IF that is what you are trying to accomplish -- does not require FAX, nor does it require a Fax phone line.
Instant Ink subscription does require that your printer be connected to the Internet, much like your computer is connected to the Internet - through your Internet Service Provider.
Section 5 of the contract (region "ie") states that the printer must be connected to the Internet. This means you must have Web Services running on the printer. Web Services establishes the connection using your Internet Service Provider's connection to talk to devices outside of your home.
The HP Connected Account is used to send your claim code (printer email setup / connection) and to communicate status, setups, and account information for your Instant Ink Account.

I am sorry I cannot help - I think I am making things worse and I have no idea what you are trying to do or why you think you need the Fax.
My apologies.
