HP Officejet Pro 8600 N911a
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I keep getting the "Print Error" message on my HP Officejet Pro 8600. I went through all the steps at https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-officejet-pro-8600-e-all-in-one-printer-series-n911/4322914/...  I was able to print "Printer Status Report" and a Test Page but then I keep getting the "Print Error" message.

The below "Printer Status Report" shows everything is normal, including the Yellow but the  below "Test Page" appears to show a Yellow error (no Yellow print).Scan0001.jpgScan0002.jpg

Greetings @icrazyhorse

Thanks for the post.

I understand that you are getting a printer error and have tried a lot of troubleshooting steps, is that right?

Kudos to you for trying to troubleshoot the issue on your own.

Not to worry, I will be glad to assist you.

Are you getting this error on your printer or on your computer?

Are you able to make a copy on the printer?

May I know the exact error message you are getting?

If you are able to make a copy on the printer, request you follow the procedure mentioned below to uninstall the printer software and settings completely and install it back on your computer.

Uninstall the printer from "programs and features" which can be accessed by doing a right-click on the Windows button (Please have the printer Off and disconnected during uninstallation.)

Check in device manager, if the printer is listed there, please delete it. (Right click on the Windows button to access device manager)

Go to devices and printers, select any printer listed there and you will get some options on the top.

Click on print server properties.

You will get a popup, click on the drivers tab and delete all the HP printer drivers listed there, if any.

Delete all the instances of your printer listed in devices and printers.

Restart the PC.

Once the PC is on the desktop, press Win + R, it would bring a Run dialog box,

Type %temp% in the run box and click Ok or hit the Enter button.

It would bring up the temporary files folder. Delete the files in the folder (You might not be able to delete all the files, ignore them).

If possible, delete the printer from the registries using Regedit or using any other 3rd party application.

Restart the PC again.

Download the latest full feature driver from www.hp.com/drivers and install it on the computer.

Connect the printer to your computer only when the setup prompts for the printer.

Let me know if this helped.

Thanks for the help but it did not solve my problem. The error message I continue to see is:

Printer Failure.

There is a problem with the printer or ink system. Turn off, then on. If the p[roblem persists, contact HP.

Interestingly the HP Printer Assitant shows a red "x" above the Yellow cartridge; no other ink cartridge shows the red "x". When I click on the Yellow ink cartridge it shows the Yellow ink is at ablut 25%.

Additional information you requested:

Are you getting this error on your printer or on your computer? The error is in the HP printer display. Once the error appears, I have no display control over the other printer functions.

Are you able to make a copy on the printer? No.

I did clean all four printer heads, including the Yellow head.
