Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Howdy all..I recently purchased an HP 950xl cartridge from Amazon for my 7+ year old, 8600plus N911g.

But after replacing the old cartridge with the new one, I am getting the "Incompatible Ink Cartridge" error.

I've read the articles here, and it appears I might need the region unlock..however, only 1 of my old cartridges say Z40...all the rest do not indicate a Znumber...they just say 951XL or 950xl.

The new cartridge I installed says 950xl Z10.

Furthermore, I have tried to open a ticket with HP, but the support page is not able to confirm my serial/model number so I cannot open a case or contact support.

I understand they probably want me to replace this printer, but all the other features still work great.

Can anyone help me with this issue?  If I have to replace the printer, I doubt I will buy another HP.

I forgot to mention this printer was purchased at Sams in Texas and I have always purchased ink from either Sams or Amazon.

Hi,

This is likely region related, Z10 is indicated for North America while Z40 is for the Asia Pacific, your printer probably got locked due to using ink intended for another country purchased online.

Please open HP Smart on your PC, if your printer is not listed click the plus icon and add it.

Double-click your printer icon and select Supported Cartridges, then include a screenshot of the screen with both the Installed and Supported sections shown.

hi,

With the old cartridges installed, you would need to contact HP Support in the US to perform a pen regionalization as your printer currently being locked for Asia Pacific region:

You may follow the below steps to dispute due to your supplies warranty, you do entitle for a free phone support session on this matter as described in here:

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05084516

Once a support representative resets your printer to the US region (Z10), you will need to replace all four ink cartridges with Z10 cartridges, marketed in the United States.
