My new OfficeJet Pro 8720 printer prints crooked/awry , from the first day (30 days ago). It looks like the paper first entered from the left margin and a few hundredths of a second later to the right. If the document to be printed is as long as one page, printing on the lower left side begins outside the surface of the sheet of paper.
I attach an image.
Please help me, I check the paper quality, I check the paperbox container, the blue papers holder in the paper box, everything.
Thank you for your attention and kind regards,
Marco

Hi! @Anthony1458, Welcome to HP forums.
I understand when you print a test page from your printer it's printing the text towards left.
Don't worry I'd like to help you out.
Did you make any changes to your printer?
Does the issue persist when you make a copy from your printer?
As you mentioned when you print a test page from your printer it's printing the text towards left.
Try few steps recommended below.
Turning the printer off, and then on again might resolve an Alignment failed error message.
-
Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
-
Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
-
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
-
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
-
Wait at least 60 seconds.
-
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE:
HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
-
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
-
Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
-
Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
Clean and align the printhead or ink cartridge
Cleaning the printhead or ink cartridge often resolves alignment issues and helps resolve print quality problems at the same time. HP offers two general inkjet printhead designs: the Integrated Printhead (IPH) is integrated into the ink cartridge, and the Individual Ink Cartridges (IIC) has a printhead built into the printer.
Your printer comes with an automated tool to clean the printhead.
Aligning the printhead can resolve errors with Test Pattern 1.
-
On the printer control panel, swipe down to open the Dashboard, and then touch the Setup icon
.
-
Swipe up on the display, and then touch Printer Maintenance.
-
Touch Align Printhead, and then touch Continue.
An alignment page prints.
Figure : Example of an alignment page
You have to manually align the ink cartridges and make sure the alignment is successful.
Lastly, update the printer firmware and check if it helps.

Thank you for your reply.
As @A4Apollo is out of the office today, I'm replying to you.
Sure, feel free to reply as conveniently as possible.
Also, I would like to add that if the issue persists while copying then you may check if this happens while feeding the paper through the ADF (document feeder) also. The following steps from this HP document can help in fixing various paper feed related issues: https://hp.care/2JmRB4M
- Step 1: Check the paper, and then reload it.
- Step 2: Clean the paper feed rollers from inside the ink cartridge access area..
- Step 3: Clean the rollers from inside the rear of the printer.
Also, you may download and install the firmware update for the printer via this link: https://hp.care/2ITSEZQ
NOTE: The printer needs to be restarted after the firmware is installed successfully.
I sincerely hope this fixes the issue. Keep me posted for further assistance.
Good luck! 🙂

Hi, I try all your solutions and no way, I tested it in other environment and it also print crooked in new environment.
I bought this printer on March, 18 2018 so I think I have a lot of warranty time.
I have a lot of pictures about this defect (about 4 mm between left upper printer corner and bottom one, in any printing case (print from computer, from mobile, with copy and fax function.
Is it possibile to change it with a new working printer?
Thank you and best regards,

@KaISBC, Thanks for your quick response and time.
I appriciate your efforts for writing back to us.
As you mentioned the issue still persists after trying out the steps.
Did you try updating the printer firmware?
Did you align the printer as suggested in my previous post?
Try the steps recommended below.
Clean the printhead
The printhead could be clogged, and you might need to clean the printhead several times to restore print quality. Use an automated tool from the control panel to clean the printhead.
CAUTION:
Never turn off the printer when ink cartridges are missing. Make sure you replace any missing ink cartridges as soon as possible to avoid print quality issues and possible extra ink usage or damage to the ink system. To avoid issues that require cleaning the printhead, always turn the printer off with the Power button on the printer itself.
-
On the printer control panel, swipe down to open the Dashboard, and then touch the Setup icon
.
-
Swipe up on the display, and then touch Printer Maintenance.
-
Touch Clean Printhead, and then touch Continue.
A test page prints.
-
Examine the test page.
Also, check the Paper type and size in the input tray that does not match the paper settings for the copy job can result in partial copies.
-
Reload the paper you are coping on, and make sure the paper width guides are pushed in so they are resting next to the edge of the paper stack.
-
Touch Copy, Copy Document, or Copy Photo on the printer control panel.
-
Touch Settings or the gear icon
to access and change the following settings.
NOTE:
You might need to scroll down the screen to access all settings.
-
Paper Type: Copy speed can be impacted if photo paper is selected for a plain paper copy job. Select the type of plain or photo paper you are making the copies on.
-
Tray Selection: Select the paper input tray with the paper you are using for your copies.
-
Paper Size: Select the paper size you are making the copies on, or select Automatic to let the printer detect the paper loaded in the tray.
-
Resize or Size: Change the size of the copy. Options can include a list of presets, custom sizes between 25 and 400 percent of the original size, Fit to Page, and an Actual Size setting to make a borderless copy.
-
-
Select Save Current Settings or Set as New Defaults to retain the settings for future copy jobs.
-
Load the original document or photo, and then start a copy job.
If the issue still persists trying out the steps, it is a hardware issue with your printer.
Please contact HP support as your printer is still under warranty you can get a replacement printer.

Hello and thank you for your help, I'm so sorry for my terrible delay but the printer is at my parents home so I need to go there every time you asked me to do something.
This afternoon I'll make every new request but the printer is wrong, I used hp product since 20 years ago and I never meet this kind of issue.
Thanks again and I'll be back soon.
