HP Envy 7645 All-in-One Printer
macOS 10.15 Catalina

Since I upgraded my iMac to macOS Catalina my Envy 7645 scanner feature doesn't work. I get an error message "One or more of the following problems has prevented the scan from being completed:
*The connection to the computer has been lost
*The scan application on the computer is currently in use
*An OCR application is not installed on the computer

Check the computer for more information"

The printer shown in my Printers & Scanners section of System Preferences is Printers: HP Envy 7640 series.  It is the same for Faxes; however, nothing is shown for Scanners.

@Birdman506, Welcome to HP Support Community!

I understand you have issues scanning from the printer and the computer. HP Easy Scan is currently not fully compatible with macOS Catalina. We're actively working to restore complete functionality.

I would recommend you to go through a similar post that speaks about the scanning issues after Mac OS update.

Also, try using the HP Smart App to scan. Refer to the document HP Printers - Using the HP Smart App (Mac) for help.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Thank you for your post suggesting possible solutions to my scanning issue.

After posting my initial message, I tried uninstalling/reinstalling the printer, and running the scanner from my iMac.  For whatever reason, that worked.
