HP Deskjet 3720
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Printer was operating fine but now cannot print (wirelessly) from my laptop, documents just sit in queue with 'error' next to them.

Can print from my smart phone app and can print a test page successfully (it doesn't look great, but that is a different issue for another day).

Figured I just needed to update my drivers but was not able to find any.

Worked my way through the process wit the Virtual Agent.  None of that worked, so I ran the Print And Scan Doctor as suggested by Virtual Agent.  Result of that was that it was unable to fix my problem and recommended that I completely reinstall my printer.

So I have reinstalled, and I made sure I selected the full version too.  I restarted the computer for good measure and then I re-ran the Scan And Print Doctor.  This time the Dr did not find any errors.  So I tried printing again but still have exactly the same issue as I started with - Can print test page and from smart phone app wirelessly, but cannot print wirelessly from my laptop.

It really seems to me that I have a driver or other software issue on the laptop, but as I have reinstalled it and followed all the advice I could find on this site I am now rather out of ideas.  Can anyone please help me out?

@Miss_Vicki, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Check the connectivity between the printer and the PC

  1. Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to obtain the IP address.
  2. Type the IP address at the top of your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
  3. If you get any security notification, click on show details/advanced and 'proceed to this website'.
  4. Go to Tools > Print a test page. If you are able to print a test page, proceed to the next step.

Clean reinstallation of Pre-installed HP drivers

  1.  In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
  2.  Select your HP Printer
  3.  Select Uninstall
  4.  In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
  5.  In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’
  6.  Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.
  7.  Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
  8.  Click on the “Drivers” tab
  9.  Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
  10.  Select Ok
  11.  Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
  12.  Close Devices and Printers, restart the computer.

Click here to download the HP Full-featured driver.

Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and follow the on-screen instructions.

Try printing.

Alternatively, you may use HP Smart app to print your PC
